Episode 11: We’re both back from a week’s vacation

We’re both back from a week’s vacation. I ask Ned how his time off was, and he says this: “You know what: I couldn’t even go crabbing with my son. Look what you took away from me. How many runs did you get in over the break? Hope they were nice.” Later, he hobbles into my office to remind me that he only has so many summers left in life, and that he’ll never get this time back with his children. Ned is barely 50 years old.
