Episode 12: Ned’s taken to wandering without his crutches

Thursday

Ned’s taken to wandering without his crutches. I can hear him approach more easily, now, as he shuffles past my office door. “Is it feeling any better?” I ask him, thinking that he’d enjoy this new mobility. “No.” he says, “It’s worse that it’s healing, because now I have to pay for physio.” I’m in dangerous territory, now, as Ned is legendarily cheap. This new ire, at having to pay anything, has emboldened him. Ned says this as he stands squarely in my doorway: “Every time I look at my foot, all I see is your face.” He then shakes his head in disgust and adds, with a pointing finger: “I’ll see you in The Octagon.” He then shuffles off.
