Episode 19: It’s sweet relief to see Ned walking again

Wednesday

It’s sweet relief to see Ned walking again, although, when he goes up stairs he looks like a badly programmed robot. Each jerky motion is a dagger of guilt to my heart. He pops by my office to entice me into eating his homegrown tomato, which happens to be colour and size of a human heart. Perhaps this is a peace offering, I think. I say so, and Ned laughs dryly and says this: “Y’know what? I know I finally have more range of motion because I can finally sit down on the toilet.” Later, eating the tomato, I taste mold, which is hidden in its many crevices. The whole tomato-thing was a revenge trap, which I obviously deserved.
