Episode 20: I am in Ned’s office and I see a Theraband on his desk

I am in Ned’s office and I see a Theraband on his desk. My shoulder’s been bugging me, I say, then ask to use it, to see if my rotator cuff is tender. Ned is about to hand it over, then he pauses: “Careful: you see, here? It’s got a rip in it.”

I pledge to be careful with it.

“Don’t bother,” he says, “you’ve already ripped something of mine that’s way more important, so, like you’d care, anyway.”

The Theraband is red and looks like it could be a magnified section of Achilles tendon. I see the tear in it. I’m crestfallen with guilt, again, as I slink out of his office.
